Charles Spitzer began his career in 1977 with the international CPA firm of Peat Marwick, now KPMG. His practice was centered in financial institution work. In 1983 he started a CPA and business advisory firm based in the Dallas Fort Worth area that became a specialist in financial service organizations, with an emphasis in insurance entities. He grew that practice to become one of the top 25 CPA firms in Tarrant County. In 2003, he sold the CPA practice and joined a Dallas based financial service organization, serving as an equity partner and Chief Financial Officer for the affiliated group of companies.

During his tenure with the financial service organization, he became proficient in the planning aspects of using 831 (b) captive insurance companies as an effective risk transfer vehicle. After successfully assisting clients in the implementation of the strategy, he made the decision and founded Captive Insurance Group, LLC.

His significant experience as a tax professional with significant insurance experience brings expertise to the implementation of the captive insurance strategy from both a regulatory and tax perspective.

He was born in Waco, Texas and graduated with a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1977. He is a licensed CPA in Texas. He is also a member of the Captive Insurance Companies Association.

Chuck is deeply involved in church activities. He and his wife Karen are the parents of 5 children and 12 grandchildren and live in Arlington, Texas.

He serves on the advisory board of both the Dallas and the Ft. Worth Chapters of the BYU Management Society, as well as the National Advisory Council of Southern Virginia University.

Derek Spitzer began his career at a global tax consulting firm based in Dallas, Texas. As a consultant in the transaction tax practice, Derek worked directly with several Fortune 500 companies in the retail, healthcare, storage, and manufacturing industries.

Derek graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He is married and has one daughter.

Prior to joining Captive Insurance Group, Chad Spitzer worked in the transaction advisory services group of Ernst & Young in the Dallas, Texas office. Specifically, he worked on the valuation and business modeling team, where he performed valuations for Fortune 500 clients, as well as large privately held businesses.

Chad graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He is married and currently has his first child on the way.
